Educational Model

Comprehensive Development Center Amún Shéa

Our educational model is based on nine academic competencies, which are enhanced through the Problem-Based Learning Methodology (PBL), which allows young people to “learn by doing”. To this end, we have developed a curricular and methodological program that combines individual improvement with local development.

The program allows a balance between the acquisition of academic knowledge and its application in the field, through pertinent and available activities in the locality, incorporating the particular interest of each student. The application of what has been learned, in the laboratory or field, allows students to better assimilate the information acquired. Each teacher is responsible for the organization of the units and for the elaboration and execution of the work plan of each student and its follow-up.

The characteristic of the Amún Shéa Integral Development Center is that it is a proposal conceived and developed from scratch, based on the specificities of the territory –geography, history and social fabric– of the north of Morazán. Amún Shéa applies the official educational curriculum of the Ministry of Education of El Salvador to the local context with a special emphasis on the formation of young and capable leadership for the creation of a development pole in this area.

Our contribution to this effort consists of applying the national curriculum to the real environment of northern Morazán, with features of its ancient and contemporary history, and with a problem-solving methodology and practical application in the field.

We recognize the component of technical capacity as essential for economic development, which must be enriched with creative imagination and cultivated in an environment of social harmony that gives young people the opportunity to achieve full development.

Our educational proposal reinforces the national education program, proposing the culture of peace, creativity and technical professional training as solid foundations on which the academic program can be developed.
